Afraid of Love

Contributed by Keiki on Saturday, 26th June 2004 @ 09:33:30 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I'm tired of all the lies you've tried to feed to me
Cuz all you've done is cause me pain and misery
Quit trying to tell me that we can make this work -
Now that I see through you, I finally won't hurt.
There's nothing you can do, nothing you can say
To even begin to take all this pain away.
I gave you all of me, and you just broke my heart
So now I'm telling you that we must split apart
That's why I'm telling you...

Leave, and don't come back
Our love just fell through the cracks
You had your chance and you blew it.
Don't even start to cry, wipe that tear from your eye - you'll get through it.
You'll find another girl, be the center of her world,
And then you'll lose her, too.
Well, I've had enough, we're through.

It wasn’t long ago I thought something was wrong
And now I know that you have played me all along
Don’t say you love me cuz you were never there
When I needed to feel the most like someone cared
I’ve never found it so easy to say goodbye
But I feel no remorse and let me tell you why –
You capture someone’s heart, but you just lead them on,
When someone says they love you, just like that, you’re gone…
I think you’re afraid of love.

You’ll never find something to hold on to
Eventually, they all will see right through you
I hope someday you see just who you really are –
A fool who only knows how to break girls’ hearts.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
