My Son.
I wanted to be a circus performer,
an heroic figure, taming tigers.
Got a job as a red nosed clown
falling about with a bottle of gin,
which made the audiences laugh till
I cried; their hilarity a dagger stab
through my heart. My lovely son
don’t be a sad eyed clown, tame
that tiger running wild in your
blood and be a hero.
