I took off my ring!
I closed my heart to you.
All times good and bad
Sorry now it’s through
So many times, I would forgive
My love I felt was true
And every time I believed your words
Now they ring untrue
You were gone so long ago
Yet you stayed around
And took what should be smiling days
And turned them to a frown.
Another came and took your heart
Someone took mine to
The love I thought we used to share
Was it all a game for you?
Now that you have a place to go
You know that life will be good
You choose to show me what is real
What you never before could.
I took off my ring.
I put it away
What we thought would last forever
It had died that day.
But no longer am I afraid.

The title and first line says it all....taking off the ring puts the relationship to rest so you can move on...beautiful poem..

| good job! I wish I had the guts to "take off my ring" didnt have a ring but its a good expression for moving on. Which is something I realy need to do! Very nice write, I can relate to it. |
