When Love Ends

Contributed by OysterMoon on Monday, 21st October 2002 @ 08:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

I lay in the impression your body once made
in my bed and wonder how long the pillow
where you slept will remain warm. The volume of beautiful choices diminishes as I
realize I must now visit where our passions tower has fallen.

The silence only makes me hear you more as the dark weight of the hours drag behind
me. I must remember that inside the fallen
fruit the seed is not dead, as I realize what
used to be with, is now without.

Our bed burns of love no more as I wonder
with a jealous eye who will be tasting that
rich body of yours now. When will your
silhouette disappear from my vacant heart
as I seek to find out how long I will remain
a hope junkie.

The slam of the door doesn't abate my hunger for you while I've found my begging letter seems not to work. I no longer have any place to keep my memories as our mementos fall to the ground like autumn leaves.

For me living becomes a stranger as I cling to remembering what day it used to be. Every room I walk into is vacant as I desperately try to save myself from daggers drawn, quick to show my breathes revenge.

For now I must relinquish my soul, clear to see that when you left you administered the lash and I ended up "eating the bitter bread of banishment."

I must say that while reading this...my heart and mind was transported to a time when I felt love had left my life. It brought tears to my eyes as I remembered the emptiness I had felt inside. This is a magnificent poem...
