It was thirteen when we said goodbye
Yet I somehow found the strength to let go
Though my memory returns to black September skies
The day you lost the only friend you had...yourself
Yet I stare into fading sunsets, fearing no evil
For I expanded my threshold of pain, beyond this
I covered the gap you left me with at thirteen
As you moved away from here, I lost you
I hear you now, calling me back home
I hear you now, calling me back home
Under a dead North Carolina sky
I forcefully said goodbye to you
Without you, I became a shaow of myself
Solitary discharged shell inviting death to take me away
I'm coming home to you now
Not the same twisted fool I used to be
I've grown up, yet I still miss you
Yet I'm still connected to flesh left behind
Thirteen is when I parted with it
I hear its voice calling me now
Wanting to make me whole again
To be completed, and healed
Its calling me wanting to set me free
Yet all I can do is still wave goodbye
