Although you may not be Spiderman
And you may not be fighting comic book characters
You are fighting for this beautiful land
Getting sent to foreign lands whenever a problem occurs
I never saw Superman pack up and leave his life behind
Only his fictional loved ones cried
You're fighting on the front lines, running blind
But Superman never had to hold his friend while he died
Batman didn't have a little girl back home
She needs her daddy so much
But he's half a world away, she feels so alone
Her father died yesterday, but she hasn't a hunch
Wonderwoman never went missing in action
With a family trying to fill the holes in their hearts
She never got captured at her station
When the millitary came that final day, she didn't have a family whose lives were torn apart
To all you soldiers in Iraq
Whose feelings are low and narrow
We all want you to just come back
And I want you to know, you're a very special kind of hero

Hey, that was nice perspective to look from. I liked the way you took each fictional character and adhered it to the topics you wanted to put forth. I enjoyed it, keep up the good work!!!

"With a family trying to fill the holes in their hearts"
Impassioned and moving. I like this one, too. |
