Our Australian Spirit Will Not Be Broken

Contributed by chrissylee on Sunday, 20th October 2002 @ 09:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Tributes

Tragedy has hit us here in our Australian hearts,
Many of our political leaders,
Are comparing this small unjustice to 9/11,
How can they be so blind to see,
That our loss is only small.

It still doesn't give those terrorists the right,
To bombard peoples homes way into the night.

How long must this go on?
Why can't we all be at peace?
Is there really such a big bone to pick?
That they have to terrorize our lands.
Why can't they act like civil adults?
Just talk about it and not fight.

As Australians we stand tall and strong,
Those terrorists think they have broken our spirit,
I can tell you right here they are wrong,
For we will fly to where ever we want,
Be what comes and be what may,
Our land a vast desert land that pioneers have made green,
For it's shores are surrounded by sea.

Australian shores you can adorn,
The beauty of the eucalyptus , wattle and the malaeluca tree too.
The radiant sands beneath your feet,
As you walk along her golden shores,
The flowers she grows are her tranquil beauty and her inner heart and soul.

The people here will capture your heart your spirit and your mind.
Help you out when needed, do what ever they can to please you.

Australians inner beauty will not be burnt to a crisp,
Terrorists can never rip our heart and soul from within this land of ours,
October the 12th will go down in history,
But our spirit is far from broken,
For we are young and free,
We'll always stand tall,
United we stand divided we would fall.

Thanks for writing this. I was hoping that someone would post something about the Bali attacks on this site. Well done.

Good write, Chrissylee... It's terrible, the events of late.. My heart goes out to the familes of all those lost...
