Farewell, I Cry

Contributed by afraid_of_fear on Tuesday, 22nd June 2004 @ 03:53:35 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

It seems the world’s beauty is beginning to disappear
Falling away with every desperate tear

And it seems you, and they, and I, turn a blind eye
Choking back the tears we’ve yearned so long to cry

I see so much in you, in them, in me
I know there’s more, longing to be set free

Don’t hold yourself back, we can’t afford to withdraw
Be bold, be brave, don’t draw the short straw

And with every ‘hello’ comes a ‘goodbye’
And so this is thus, my farewell, I cry

I may be gone weeks, months or years
But keep fighting your wars and facing your fears

I will miss you my friends, but it must be so
It has come my time, from your-poetry I must go

Many of you will never have heard my name
But this home I will miss, all the same

And remember, when the world seems to get darker and colder
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

Charlotte! You're leaving?

Oh, no . . . you're a wonderful writer and I know I won't be the only one who will miss your beautiful poetry. I hope whatever is wrong in your life soon mends, and please come back as soon as you possibly can; we'll be waiting eagerly for your return.

Char!!!!! Don't go!!!!! This was such a beautiful poem and we will miss your thoughts on this site. I hope like me you will only be gone a month (or shorter) and then come back suffering from severe withdrawal. Once again I loved your poem, but liked the 2nd stanza best.

Darn, I got here too late!!!!!
Charlotte, please reconsider, we all love your poetry. I think you are an awesome writer and it will be a total waste if you leave. Please dont go when you have so much talent more to show. But if you decide to leave, which is very much saddening, I think you left us with an amazing write. An unforgettable poem that will certainly be cherished.
