There's truth somewhere
I held near
Close chested
Always play your cards
Here
What lies between
Deadly
Weaponed
Sharp tongues, eager bodies
Unlicenced fear
Secrets guarded
In the night
Mistakes create fires
Burning deep
Flesh melts
Hearts scald
By the wayside
At the touch
The half light
The white lies
THe untold
In the in-between
I say
The not quite full story
I have held near
And at a distance
Gained perspective
Gained home
That could not be gathered
For all the honesty
In earth and world
Had I not walked a mile
There's truth
And I hold it here
With you.
