never in a million years
do stars travel as far or as fast
as the meteor you
burning out across my eyes
brilliant flame, you surge ahead
without care for what you say
stratospheric calamity
caused me to thunder
rumble in echo to your phrase
tentacle clouds clutch the heart
rebelling against your proud face
flexing your humor on me
stilled for so long - silence trickles
navigate - careful not to disturb
delicate balance of telescope
watching starlight alone

Such sadness and isolation here. Beautiful and stirring. OK, I'm close to tears. Happy?
I'll be fine, but you do have such talent. So moving.

I could see the imagery in my mind and feel the emotion that builds in this poem.
I am fascinated with space and stars so this was perfect.
I've also looked thru a telescope many nights alone and although fascinated at what I saw on the clear nights disheartened that in the midst of celestial wonders I saw them alone.
Sometimes silence echoes louder than a word can reverberate.
I loved your poem Merry.

A familiar feel.. many among the multitudes and yet alone in the endless gulfs of space. Every star a lonely soul indeed. A bit dificult to read any else...is this a parable of the multitudes or a tale of a heart shorn of company after the comet that had graced the near skies for a whiles digressed and later circumvented into an orbit far and beyond. But in any case a poignant read nonetheless. It makes one think and wonder for a while at least... a singular among multitudes...the unbridgeable depths of separation...the distances of a lonely star... |
