City Streets

Topic: LovePoetry

City streets on winter nights
Are for walking by a different kind -
Do you wonder -
Am I one of them?
As I wander
The silent, frozen ways
Buildings and walls and trees
Wait to fall all around me,
I fear they must hear me rattle
Without you,
All busted up inside -
My love for you
Follows me everywhere, close by,
Like a persistent child
Tugging at my sleeves,
I see its traces
Like a trail of crumbs left
Winding behind me -
Love, have you seen it?
Out here
I am a button, a button,
Hiding in plain sight.
If I could
I would warm my face
Against your chest,
Close enough to hear your heart,
And make love to you
Until both of us could almost cry -
But the streets are kind
On nights like these,
I dissolve as the avenues enfold me,
One with the snowy night,
No sense of time, without sense of space,
The streets know the way
Found deep inside,
They take me, Love, to a warmer place.

I've read this before, but I thought I might aswell comment on it now that I've came back to it, for some glimmer of inspiration and offer it up a word or two on my behalf. telling you what I like and don't like about it.

With two words, 'everything' and 'nothing'.
Like the city streets you tread here, this free-verse takes me to a warmer place.
Thanks for conjuring these images up.
