LIFE AFTER THE DEATH OF A GREAT MAN LIKE YOU

Contributed by brokenwings on Monday, 21st June 2004 @ 02:17:04 PM in AEST
Topic: LoveRemembered

My life has changed greatly
since the day you said goodbye,
the life I once knew is over ang gone,
I have only me to turn to when I cry.

My tears have dried for the most part,
I feel i need to get this off my heart.
You were my life and my soul
In your arms I was whole.

Many days have past and so have the months
the next thing to do is watch the years,
I don't count the days anymore,
I figured I need to let you go.

Then I stopped coming to see you every day,
My friends all think i'm being wrong,
but you've been gone too long,
What would they say
if they knew I lost everything the day i lost you.

I had to take some time for my self,
Got the person I used to be off the shelf,
I didn't know what to do
on my first date after you,

I just talked like I used to with you,
when i got home i realized,
how i got lost in his green eyes,
i sat down and remembered your eyes,
and how many times we laughed through
all the long cries,

How you had to have things just right,
complained when your jeans were too tight
I remember everylittle thing you used to do,
i thought i couldn't live without you.

Then one day an long forgotten friend
came to me and held me tight
I knew he wasn't you but it felt right
Some how i thought with him my heart could mend.

Then one day i found out the painful truth
he hadn't changed since his youth,
Lies and games was all he knew,
So one day I told him I was threw,

I moved on once again
not knowing where it will lead me,
but the road seem so long,
I've made some choices that made me proud
and some that i must hide,

I know not what lay ahead,
but I know your with me everyday,
I know when you died it took part of who i used to be,
So me and this new girl must travel on,
she is what you made me.
But combined with my fears
and her knowledge of love together we can make it, there will never be another man,
to share the love we once had,
but there will be someone new,
I believe that the way you showed me
and the way i believed in you.
