Four Years Ago

Contributed by hooray_its_jen on Monday, 21st June 2004 @ 12:26:40 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

Four years ago
I saw you
Stop
And sink,
Down
To the bottom of
The pool.
I saw you
Taken out
By the lifeguards
And then
You dissappeared
From view
As people crowded around you.
I didn't even want
To push my way
Through them,
I was
Scared.
I couldn't move,
I couldn't breathe,
I couldn't see
Through the tears
Welling up
In my eyes.
So I sat there
Waiting
Until the ambulence came.

Five hours later
You were sleeping.
No,
Not dead,
Just sleeping.
You woke up
And said something,
Then went back
To sleep.
No,
This time
It wasn't sleep.
You were
Dead.

I just can't believe
It's been
Four years.

Sweetie, I am so sorry for the loss of your sister. I know how hard it is to lose a sibling as I lost my brother a few years ago. My heart goes out to you. Your poem about her death is sad but shows how hard you took it. I know you realize that there is a reason or God would not have taken her.

Hugs,
Rita

This is heart shaking. My eyes are wide open now. Want to tell me the story? What a write! You have given a glimpse that tells much and yet leaves the reader desperate for more. Well done.

ok that was soooo sad. And I almost started to tear up but i contained myself. That must have been such a hard experience for you to go through. And what a great way to express your distraught. This was very well put together. Your poems have alot of depth and feeling in them. You have talent.

Kimberly :)
