Everyday I Wait

Contributed by pixie on Monday, 21st June 2004 @ 11:57:07 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Everyday I sit & I patiently wait,
For my Mum & Dad to come through the gate,
Of the children’s home where they left me,
They are parents but wanted to be free.

So I was placed into care,
Stripped naked & laid bare,
Open to hurt & open to pain,
Everything to lose, nothing to gain.

I sit here at this big window
Wondering why they left me long ago,
Will they come back & bring me home,
Or leave me here feeling so alone.

Was I really such a bad kid?
What was so wrong that I did,
To make you desert me like this,
I have not a memory of a loving kiss.

I have long cried myself dry,
Night after night as I gaze into the sky,
Why did you not show me any love?
All you could do was to kick & to shove.

I have no feelings I am totally numb,
From all those years you called me dumb,
Said how much of a burden I was to you,
I remember all those things you put me through.

I have the mind of someone older,
Carry the weight of the world on my shoulder,
Even though you treated me so bad,
You’re still my Mum & Dad.

Please come back I need a cuddle,
Ease my head from this terrible muddle,
I am still a child when all’s said & done,
A child who’s life has been anything but fun.

though it's sad i found it fun to read. i love the rhyming used.

Even when you write about something as horrible a thing as having no parents( which I can relate too) you do it beautifully and with such passion and emotion that I can feel over the seas in my heart in Georgia. Five well deserved stars. Things do get bad before they get good, but they do get good, trust me I know. Love ya.
