I look in the mirror
its not me that I see.
an alternate reality
some woman posing as me.
I study the lines
in Her face
beauty and
strength.
She is everything I want to be.
in Her eyes I see wisdom
of generations to come.
She is my past
my future
yet She is not me.
I try to step forward
to be on Her side
I know if I could
I’d see myself
in Her eyes.

Wow, this brought up lots of emotion. Sometimes what we protray isn't what we really are. But we don't like what we protray because we don't feel like that all the time on the inside.
The last part, which was very cool way to end the poem and my favorite part
I try to step forward
to be on Her side
I know if I could
I’d see myself
in Her eyes.
I try to step forward to be on Her side.... awesome and good way to put it. Sounds like you'd be trying to live up to what is protrayed is what I got from that.
Loved this one as well!
