SMILES IN THE AISLES TWO
Security guards lock the store take two,
Stock take had happened all was fresh and new.
Paula Grape had a crush on Arthur Choke,
Who had moved into the area from Basingstoke.
Reggie-Veggie had flown the nest,
He’d gone off with Olive who he liked the best.
Dennis the Danish was flaking from too much sun,
Part of Basil-Herbs present a day out for fun.
Chuck Berry wondered down the aisles,
To be greeted by waves and despondent smiles.
It was winter quite cold and the heating was off,
Benson-Cigarette gave a nervous cough.
Everywhere light poodles into ghostly spheres,
Dominic-Spring-Water was frightened that was clear.
Chuck-Berry stopped at an inhuman shrill,
Coming from shadows from the empty tills.
Pum-Kim was playing at spooks,
What an aerie noise and general gobbledygook.
Still after all it was Halloween,
Clot-Ed Cream even let out a scream.
Chuck Berry pressed on now sure it was only a game,
The sweet section now was his aim.
Then it happened a foot came from out of the gloom,
This would entail accidental doom.
Squashed flat a burglar had broken into the store,
Juice now a footprint on the moonlit floor.
Dusty the Dustpan, and Molly the Mop,
Swept up the floor of the violated shop.
Straight for the button, alarm bells now sound,
Burglar’s face so shocked and dumfound.
Security cameras red dot tracer,
Locked onto those that would pilfer.
Then his eyes see Molly beginning to boast,
Sirens wine, clinking a celebratory toast.
Was I mad you could see his thoughts?
Still sweet boxes rattle it takes all sorts.
Police arrest our blubbering wreck,
But the food evidence is gone without a speck.
Even the cameras do not reveal,
Any moonlight frolics or any untoward spiel.
