The Dear John Letter

Contributed by harj on Sunday, 20th June 2004 @ 05:38:29 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

We are taught to pray
As children we are told of God
But when are the angels coming
When will our prays be answered
In times of suffering and in times of death
Our prays never seem to be answered
In times of war and in times of death
Our prays never seem to be answered
I lay on my bed and stare at the ceiling and wonder
Will this darkened soul ever be free?
I take long walks, I watch TV
Anything to get rid of these thoughts
These memories that are like daggers
Digging into my mind
Thoughts of self-righteous suicide
And if whether there is such a thing
Is this the only way my soul will be free
I come near a cliff and stand on the edge
I spread out my arms and look to the sky
All my thoughts race through my mind
Like a smorgasbord of disturbance
I slowly lean forward and start to plummet
The cool breeze feels heavenly
Against my tear drenched face
I look around me
Everything around me a is a blur of colour
Hues of blues, reds and deep browns
I see the waves crashing
Against the rough rocks below me
For a second I feel like i am floating
And the angels finally come
They catch me and take me to the heavens above
The feelings that have tormented me
Are now gone as this soul leaves the body
And soar on the wings of angels

I agree with pixie, very imaginative indeed, allot of stuff to go through though, a few short versus with powerful words would of fragmented it allot better and given it more momentum, but overall, I cant complane, welldone
keep the good work comming :D
