Sinking

I am quickly sinking into the murky swamp of my greatest heart-ache.
I refuse to be saved; I want to be covered, fade away.
No one can understand the suffocating darkness that consumes my heart.
I feel alone, atop the pedestal of my devastation.
It is an eternity to descend to my salvation.
Surrounded by the darkness of the hate that envelopes my life; I sit wallowing in the depths of the sadness that has consumed my soul.
I peer through the dark curtain that has embraced me, into the distance, looking for someone to come and save me.
I see a spark, it grows until it fills my vision, all I see is blinding light.
It is my maternal angel, arriving to seize me from the clutches of my depressed existence.
Her wings are golden, sparkling with virtue and love.
I thought that she was gone forever, disappeared from my battered life.
But she lifts me up, takes me away from the illusion of my greatest sadness.
And I am once again surrounded by love, returned to the reality of my life.
She leads me home, the lighthouse to my ship, a beacon in the darkness.
And I can feel safe once again; wrapped in a blanket of heavenly light.
I know that my maternal angel will protect me and watch over me always.
