Here We Go Again (Innercity blues)

Contributed by Archie on Friday, 18th June 2004 @ 04:33:28 PM in AEST
Topic: SongLyrics

Here we go again
Here we go again
roaches in the kitchen,
neighbors keep complaining,
I'm constantly engaging,
impoverished and straining,
all to see my faith again.

(-Repeat-)

The city problems rack my nerves unto no end
I can not find no peace of mind from within
There was a time you did not need to have a gun
but times are bad
and there are times a gun is not enough.

Here we go again
Here we go again
riots in the day time
murders in the night time
can not walk the streets safe
need a better living space
or else I'm gonna go crazy

(-Repeat-)

Children crying, not enough food to eat
Clothes are clean though
sneakers have holes within their feet
Everyone keeps saying "Just go get a job"
but a job's not enough at six bucks an hour
to help your family.

Here we go again
Hope is gone again
Mother, Father fighting
then they turn to drinking
instead of their kids teaching
divorce is in the making
another broken home again

(-Repeat-)

I have worked with so many children that grow up in this type of situation. You were lucky and made it beyond. So many of them do not. They don't have the strength or resources to fight their way out. If that is all you have ever known it is easy to get mired in that kind of life. It is a desperate situation that needs to be sung to the world..

Skilled write,
Rita

Sad but oh so true.
This is why I live in the country where I grew up. Been lotsa places on this planet but there's no place like home.
I can only endure so long in the City.
good work.
luv, huggs,
