Moonlit Dance

Contributed by SereneSea16 on Friday, 18th October 2002 @ 09:30:00 AM in AEST
Topic: NaturePoetry

The moonlight spreads itself
Wider, broader
On the wings of the gentle breezes of the stars.
The water reflects the majesty
Always repeating
Yet it never seems to copy.
The waves roll forth
One after another
A vast eternity
Of waves breaking into white foam and sea spray
On the barren shore.
The eye is fascinating
The pupil the night sky
Moonless
Robbed of soft folding beauty.
The iris is the ocean at twilight
The stars beginning to punctuate the fuzzy velvet.
The roses give off a heady scent
There are no roses in the sea, yet
The darkening petals are unmistakable.
Oh, to fly!
To soar above the waves below
To see the roses so impossible
Like all things magical.
The moon would be my halo
The stars the jewels on my fingers and neck
The night sky my feather-light silk dress.
My arms would stretch wide
To hold the Earth
My beautiful beloved, my child.
The sea is my eternal love
His waters holding me ever-so-gently
His salty spray sweet kisses.
Light would be unnecessary
But for the moon’s soft shine
It would destroy me
With its painful glare.
The wind would be my wings
Feather-light
How I love things of such quality.
Never again would the harsh sunlight and too-bright sky grate my skin.
I could be open
Free
I would dance to my own song
One that I wrote
That the Heavens would sing.
And my beloved Earth
My sweet child
Would heal and once more be whole.
Oh, to fly!
A moonlit dance
Is wild and free.
