If Only
May 21, 2004
Risks and chances I have taken,
Time and again I have been mistaken.
Yet still the same sight does prevail,
And to the same goal I still sail.
If only stars granted the wishes,
I whisper in the night.
So I could sleep so soundly,
Knowing morning would make it right.
Sunrise promises nothing, but a new day to embark,
Just twelve more hours to sift through all the dark.
And I can't help but wonder,
If only magic did exist,
And sparkles could surround,
My body and mind in a mist,
Bringing joy abound.
Simple smiles can do the same,
But temporary they are.
For clinging safety or lasting love,
What words are there to speak of?
If only pools could be dipped into,
With palms then filled with charms,
So we could sip the cool illusions,
And sigh away the harms.
