Personal Nursery Rhymes

Contributed by Colleen on Friday, 18th June 2004 @ 11:06:16 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Popcorn and movie night
What to watch was our only fight
Giggles and secrets passed around
Playing hide and seek, don't be found!

Chasing around the lightening bugs
Giving Mommy and Daddy lots of hugs
Playing with sparklers when the lights go out
Calling to friends with a gleeful shout

Running through sprinklers in the heat of the day
Not a second seemed to be wasted away
Even getting gum caught in your hair was fun
I bet the barbor thought he'd never get done

Learning how to swim without water wings
I hated it then, but I see now the joy it brings
Learning how to ride a bicycle with just two wheels
I remember how amazing that feels

Dad the "Pool Bully" as he'd say
I screamed as he threw me in the pool, much to my pretend dismay
Mom making sandwiches, tuna or peanut butter
We munched away, not a word we would utter

I really miss those good old days
But I think of them, and they erase my life's grays
I'm glad I have them, these special times
They're like my own personal nursery rhymes

I love all my childhood memories too. Life was so free and easy then and you never doubted that you were loved. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
