Tormented Mind Games

Contributed by jt on Friday, 18th June 2004 @ 09:53:07 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Alone with the black velvet of night and a handful of thoughts
A bottle in hand to numb the pain you created
Gentle whispers of the world wash
over a tormented mind
But the bottle it helped. Comforted. Sedated
All that’s been seen and been done falls down to this moment in time
From the love that’s been felt to the one
that’s now hated
Wanting to fall from the face of the earth
to embrace the sky
Escape from this life that you have desecrated

Fooling the crowd while still wishing there will be a tomorrow
Another day to fight a wasted cause for no one
And once again the screaming spills forth from the words filled with hate
And the wishes are burned and the
dreams are undone
An unrecognisable man staring back
from the mirror
Forewarning of the lies that are still
yet to be spun
Reaching out through the dark with cold fingers to wrap round the throat
To extinguish the life before it has begun
