~The Passion~

Contributed by RonMiller on Thursday, 17th June 2004 @ 10:57:51 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

~The Passion~

On Holy knees
He prayed,
for the strength
to take the
thrown stones.
For He knew
of what was to
come.

As the serpent
watched,
grin spread wide.
Split tongue flicks
in
anticipation.
Unaware of what
was to come?

Betrayer
arrives on the heels
of ignorant
men.
Tried to hide
but forced to confront
his own demons.

Captured?
Displayed in front of
hatred so deep.
Mans fear of facing
the truth.
Must break this
mirror
before we see.

Spit upon,
slapped in the face.
For the evil of
silence.

Dragged,
kicked,
beaten,
whipped,
whipped,
whipped...
taken to knees
whipped,
whipped,
rising to feet
amidst a pool of
Blood..
beaten to the ground.

Mother,
forced by love
to witness
the
inevitable turture.
Feeling
every lash,
tearing of
flesh.

Shackled
awaiting the verdict.
Given the choice,
release the murderer,
for him we can
relate.
The blasphemer
now belongs
to us.
Must dispose of
the truth.

Carrying
the burden
of the unbearable
weight.
Dragging His end
through the
streets.
Evil on one side,
love on the other.
No life remains
in this battered
frame.
The Passion
drives on.

Atop the hill,
the stakes are
driven.
The cross is
raised.
"You are all
forgiven"

Ron, this is such a powerful write. I am amazed by the emotions that this piece filled me with. Intense and beautifullly composed as always.
