The Grim Drink

Topic: MiscPoems

Bearing a rod of poison,
it lurks to find its prey,
its stinger is a wall of charm,
the mask of latter day,
it walks no certain pattern,
but twist to and fro,
waiting for the innocent,
to grab them by their soul,
it searches for what matters,
a part in which to snatch,
chaining its desires,
to pull you towards its wrath,
it comes from out of no-where,
it has no shape of form,
some say its like a thief,
watching when your torn,
it lingers both through night and day,
to swallow what it can,
almost as if disbelief,
it waits for helpless man,
the laugh is quite a giver,
striking in the mist,
its color has no purpose,
but it bites you with its kiss,
Some call it a viper,
a waiter in the fog,
at sudden chance, it snags you,
to bring you to its bog,
by day it haunts the spirit,
by night it eats the mind,
its entryway is malise,
that swallows you in time,
its shadow finds you weakened,
searching for repreve,
none of it is ever kind,
but it knows you have the need,
age doesn't matter, nor color of the skin,
it grabs both young and old,
clinging all within,
down its path you travel,
it holds your every move,
you then become its lover,
the pardon only shrewd,
Emotions cannot kill it,
it envies grim and gruff,
keeping it alive, it holds you to its cuff,
its wall .... is destitution, making you to beg,
its ribbon is so negative,
its worth ... is when .... your dead,
you become a deceiver,
a crooked human claim,
a lier, and a cheat, it's privilege is of pain,
it doesn't care where you live,
or who it takes inside, it laughs when you fall,
and celebrates your cries,
It's broken many families, leaving no returns,
its taken many lives,
a deep lesson to be learned,
it knows through generation,
many are replaced,
it pulls you down its path, it never has a face,
you then become the begger,
it watches as you run,
it breaks up all your promises,
for bias becomes fun,
Sliding in with secrets, it reaches out its hand,
it searches for the inner core,
it brings the slickest plans,
Inside its web you cling,
it leaves you not a choice,
its purpose it to break you,
though you never hear its voice,
it's often rare to leave it,
for once caught in its trap,
it knows you'll leave the others,
haunted by its wrath,
those who really love you,
will try to call your name,
while you laugh at their emotions,
it brings them so much pain,
leaving not a hope, you hang on to its end,
it becomes your everything,
you call it your best friend,
with its power it destroys you,
and watches as you crawl,
there is no season it chooses,
it lives inside of all,
You're the last to understand it,
the first to be deceived,
it killed more than a billion men,
but still you cannot leave,
it's only enemy ...... admittance,
vital to your health,
and with the last drink ..... I beg you,
go and get some help!
