A Precious Gift Called ...Memory*

Contributed by Glo on Thursday, 17th June 2004 @ 01:03:34 PM in AEST
Topic: FamilyPoems

As I sit here and write these words,
It brings back something Special to me.
It brings back a most precious gift called a Memory.
All the good times I've had when I was just a child.
The fun I had with all my friends and all the things we did.
Back then there was lots of things to do,
The world was our Oyster and our Pot Luck Stew too.

On Pot Luck Days, we would all put our names in a can.
Whose ever name was picked...
That person decided what we would do.
Not that it was settled, that's when the fun began.

Another thought comes to mind, when I wander back in time.
The time when my Mom and I would sit and talk...
About things only a Mother and Daughter would share.
I recall all the wonderful, delicious meals she would prepare.
When I looked at her, I'd see nothing but love in her eyes.
She shared with me Precious Memories of when she to was young...
A woman so strong and wise.
What Precious Memories to keep, and they're all mine...
She departed this Earthly World on "18-December-1989."

My final walk back in time brings back Memories of my Step-Dad...
Who would sit and talk with me,
About whatever was on my mind...
He was more than just a Step-Dad, he was like a real Father you see.
I remember his boisterous laugh,
We had lots of fun...the Lord called him home "12-April-2001."

My Parents and Friends leave behind such a Precious Gift,
Times when I"m feeling down, I go to them for a lift.
There's nothing more calming and peaceful to me.
Than to have the Gift of Memory.
They're always with me in my heart and mind.
A love so sweet, it spans the test of time.
A most Loving Gift from the Father above,
Hold fast to your Memories...they're filled with love.

Stay With Me Always!

~Gloria E. 19-December-2001

Yes, memories are wonderful. We will always have those remembances of them. Life just gets so hard without them with you sometimes though. It is hard letting go of that physical presence in your life. Wonderful write, Glo.

Hugs,
Rita
