A small child holds his mothers hand
As he nervously approaches the classroom
Children are bustling inside the door
Seemingly unaware of the momentous occasion
The mother drops to her knees
In front of her anxious child
And gently says, "It's time."
Tears find themselves In both parent and child’s eyes
As they both begin the journey
Of letting go
Mother releases her sons hand
"Go on, make Mama proud."
She says as she watches her son walk away
Starting his first day of kindergarten
