today i said goodbye

Contributed by taintedorange21 on Wednesday, 16th June 2004 @ 10:59:46 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

i couldn't expect you to always be there
especially when i'd need you the most
cuz your too scared of what might happen
so i'm leavin you in the cold

i'd got a job just to buy me a ticket
so i could see your beautiful face
and some little girl was running away
scratched knees and bruises all over the place

i couldn't let her go back
to the place that supplied the pain
both of us were runnin away for reasons
neither of us wanted to say

and today i said goodbye
to you across 900 miles
and i wish you great days
when the sun just blinds your eyes
i know i'll find this love again
i'm ready to cry every night
but not do it all again
so baby here's goodbye

she claimed to wanna be free
she's tired of not bein able to please
we both cried and finally said goodbye
i finally understood there's no more you and me

i gave a stranger my seat on the plane
cuz i'm gettin too old to play your fool these days
how long do you expect me to run this race
i'm sorry i'm callin it quits today

i can't hold on to you for always
your not just mine,go live your life
we may still be in love maybe that's just enough
to get us back over the bridge maybe it's not

and today i said goodbye
to you across 900 miles
and i wish you great days
when the sun just blinds your eyes
i know i'll find this love again
i'm ready to cry every night
but not do it all again
so baby here's goodbye

sorry i never made it
hope i didn't leave you waiting
hoping i'd pull up in a taxi
were you anticipating that kiss?
hope so...
hope so....
