Dreams of love
An unknown spark ignites.
Fast asleep
Yellow gas begins to leak.
Fast asleep
Winds its way through the walls.
Dreams of you
At the switchboard fast asleep
Awakened when his console
Begins to vibrate and bleep.
Too late, through a crack’d wall’s hole
A yellow death fills the room.
Down the hall, the cleaning man
Starts to gag, and drops the broom.
Yellow gas
He clutches at his throat.
Silent death
His eyes bulge then explode
Black angel
Blood erupts from his mouth
Killing force
Poison races down the halls
Sirens sound the alarm but
Everywhere, every man falls.
The first level airlock is shut.
Melting faces sadly sob
For help, for God, for mercy.
Man’s own work starts its job,
Viruses escape, now free.
No more joy
The virus spreads, infects
No more hope
Two thirds of Long Island
No more life
Within twenty-four hours
No more God
Panic grips New York. Fast.
The exits are closed off with
Only six hours left to last.
In Dallas, they heard a myth
A killer virus spreading
Killing all those in its way
Leaving the country dreading
How many goodbyes to say.
Super bug
Corpses litter the streets
Killer germ
People rotting away
No vaccine
And nothing we can do
End of times
People panic, running wild
I calmly sit on the floor
Holding tight my only child.
As rotting fists pound the door,
I smell my Death, stale and sour.
The girl dies within my clasp.
When will we see the power
Of life is beyond our grasp?
Dreams of love
Blood rushes to my head.
Fast asleep
And as I choke and shake
Fast asleep
I hold my baby tight
Dreams of you

wow this was friggin awesome I was going to make up some corny joke about your title, but the poem just grasped me and threw me down the stairs and then trampled on my bleeding body.
Melting faces sadly sob
That line wow such imagery. I LOVED this.

Do you read Stephen King? Sounds like "The Stand" or an excerpt from it. Very vivid and graphic! Enjoy S. K. and enjoyed this also. Excellent write! I've heard of Plum Island and this is a scenerio that could happened. Kudos on this one!
