Did He?

Contributed by MisterRight on Thursday, 17th October 2002 @ 10:45:00 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Tonight your “would be” anniversary,
I can’t help, but wonder what he planned.
Did he fill the night with excitement?
Did he buy you a new ring, for your empty hand?
Did he sweep you away with romance?
Did he make it everything you’ve dreamed?
Did he make you feel, special as you are?
Did he treat you like a queen?
Did he take you somewhere exotic?
Did he light a romantic fire?
Did he look at you with eyes of love?
Did he overwhelm you with desire?
Did he speak his words with sentiment?
Did he caress you under candlelight?
Did he let you know you are his world?
Did he hold you throughout the night?
Did he make tonight extraordinary?
Did he show you how much you’re missed?
Did he satisfy your sense of passion?
Did he buckle your knees when you kissed?
Did he write you a thoughtful card?
Did he tell you how much you mean?
Or did he take you drinking with his friends,
You know, the same old scene?
Did he give you roses, red with love?
Did he present you with a serenade?
Or did you spend the night on a bar stool,
Then back to his house, to get l**d?
Did he do anything special?
Did it seem to be sincere?
It doesn’t really matter,
Your true love’s waiting here.

Sorry to hear that after four years you are still not over this woman. Don't give either of them another thought. Good poem though.

It's their four year anniversary, not ours.
I guess I could have been a little more clear.

I have read most of your poetry and had a pretty good idea what you are going through .... but this poem makes me incredibly sad for you. Although I shouldn't offer advice, as I am in a similar predicament .... I feel almost angry that you do this to yourself. The only way she will make up her mind is if you let her go.

I also torture myself from day to day ... and often write poetry to relieve my stress, but after reading your poem today, I see how hopeless it is to be there for someone when they are divided. You tell yourself now that you are doing the right thing because you are so much in love ... but the only way to gain her attention and respect is if you let her go.

Don't mean to sound all-knowing - goodness knows I've been through the wringer and will end up going crazy with my own love triangle, but this poem really made me ache for you.

Great poem by the way :)))

I have re-read my comment above, and feel that I may have overstepped the mark with my thoughts, as I don't know you and haven't been here that long. Hope I didn't offend. Was just trying to help.

Hope all works out for you in the end.

Bah..another cliche for ya hon...I know you've heard..don't know what you've got til it's gone. Curtis ...if she has it set in her mind that she could come to you always and you would always be there..what reason does she have to think different?? I am so afraid that it may one day get to the point of...oh I know this will hurt him but...he'll still be there anyhow. See what I mean? I hate to see you torture yourself over this. You are such an incredible person with so much to offer. Don't treat yourself as a punching bag....because after so many hits..even the best made punching bag wears out and busts at the seams...I will just keep sending you those mental hugs and hope they help..take care Curtis :)

I know, it's possible she's already reached that point. What do I know? But I do know one thing though, she deserves to have someone there for her, through anything, and that person is me. Maybe that's my mistake, but when it come to her, it's not about me or what I go through, it's about being there for her. And if she thinks that, she's right. I will never let her fall and if by chance she does, then I'll fall with her. I guess what I'm saying is, I'll be here until the punching bag breaks.

And thanks for the hugs.

Curtis

hun, don't do this to yourself. It will only hurt you worse in the end. Just don't think about it... she'll come to her senses... sooner or later, but Golly I hope it's sooner! I came up with an idea... Have you read "At My Own Mandate" yet? Maybe you should... maybe that's her prob... just a thought... hugs Curtis... and remember something through all this, don't forget how special YOU are, just because she hasn't seen it yet.
