DRUNK ON A BUS

"DRUNK ON A BUS"

I like watching drunk men.
Completely uninhibited again, and again.
They seem to be so at peace,
in their own skin, such a release!

In all my travels, I observed many.
Traversing a street, full of brandy.
But seeing a drunk on a transit bus...
I laughed so hard, I exited with weakness.

Driver was impatient with him,
as he staggered a board!
Fumbling, he couldn't find his pocket where
his money is stored!
Finally the driver just takes off!
The drunk reacts to the sudden movement
by stumbling on the floorboard!

Then he proceeds to stumble to the back.
The Bus stops at the next stop, to the front
his comeback!
He is still fumbling, trying to retrieve his change.
When the bus starts up again, he finds this most strange?

Once again he stumbles toward the back.
Next stop the same thing happens,
jerking forward.....controls he lack!
Finally after several stops, he's had enough!!!
He exits from the front, no more of this stuff!!!

"Hey," shouts the bus driver...."You didn't pay today!"
The drunk, reeling, shouts back.......
"Why should I?--I had to walk all the way!!!"

Ahhh.... This made me smile... a good poem... Though when I first read your note I thought to myself that I don't see anything funny with public drunkness.... Now I see what you mean...

I really enjoyed reading that.
I've perchanced across many a drunkard on a bus, and have even entertained the role myself on more than a few occasions. ;o)

Great visuals.

This is sad and funny at the same time. They can either be very obnoxious or very comical. You had a comical one thank goodness.

Hugs,
Rita

In truth I find no consequence from this tale I most want only to abandon...(a drunk friend once threw up in my car and I have an aversion to drunken persons afterward...not to mention in my faith it is forbidden to indulge in the drink...oh well anyway... faith are but a cover to many these days...) But as always in your gentle writes you have found a way to insinuate an ounce of your infallible humor to warm the heart. I was laughing at this tale...one more reason to those who drink to abstain...I guess the stupidity that drinks brings out in us...heh heh heh... A nicely woven tale of a humorous story. Once again your humor doth tends to bring laughter in to the lives of your readers... Nice write!

"behold..upon this stage...the antics of drunken men..."
