This World

Contributed by hooray_its_jen on Tuesday, 15th June 2004 @ 02:40:47 PM in AEST
Topic: InspirationalPoems

This world is
So dark,
So dreary.
Has midnight come to stay?
The light from up above
Is once again shut out
By the fires from below.
What little hope we have left
Is banished from our hearts.
Reflections here are empty
And we find ourselves looking,
Looking only deeper into this darkness.
We stumble trying to find our way
And we fall again,
Trying to get up.
We are lost here and never will return home
Until someone finds the light
And leads us on the path,
Away from this darkness.
That path won't be straight
But we will be guided through
And once we open our eyes
We will realize that all life here,
On this path,
In this world
Is beautiful
And it has been all along.

If only we believe
He will open our eyes
And bring us on a new path,
Where we will follow him
Into a new world.

Not this world,
Not our own world,
But his world.

I liked the message of this poem. I found it uplifting and the ending was so nice.

Friends can be great reminders of the good things in life. :)

Such faith in one so young is inspiring to old eyes. Thank you for sharing!

You are so strong and full of light and love. You make me so proud to know you. You restore my dwindling faith in the world that things will be alright. Faith in something, no matter what it is, is important. Just something to work toward and know that no matter what, life does go on, even after this earthly life ceases. I needed to see the words you wrote and remember that that I had forgotten and given up on.

Love n hugs,
Rita
