What's left of this?
For the love of God
For the love of you.
Darkness befriended solitude
And met between
My breaking heart
And your obvious indifference.
I remember how beautiful you were
Even in goodbye
I know how I adored you
And hoped for you
Beneath an infinite sky
That stretched from your world
To mine.
You took me with you
Spirit, soul, heart
I made my home with you
And my peace with that.
Until it broke me down
Wore me out
And I had to ask
What's left of this?
For goodness sake
For me.
Having yearned for you
All this time
What's mine?
Is it you
Or the emptiness
Of a sorry situation?
You leave me again
And still
