My OIly Peach

Contributed by Ina on Monday, 14th June 2004 @ 10:40:24 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

My Oily Peach

my peach
smells like
fish oil
after sitting
in the refrigerator
underneath
the dinner I had last night

the oil dripped
like tree sap
onto the reddening
juicy peach
and covered it like
saliva lava

it smells like slough
and it slides in my hands
like a dizzy ice cube

and all I really wanted all day
was a fruit

this peach
that now glistens in my fingers
like melted kryptonite
and probably tastes
like my dinner last night
(when I watched Caligula)

the smell is sealing my appetite
this cheeky peach
I cannot eat

I bend down and cry
and wash my peach
until it’s skin
covers the whole sink
stomach tissue color

I cry harder
and bite into it
as oil water drips
from inside my
rotten
beautiful peach

I finish the oily peach
and eat last nights dinner too
(when I seduced the angels)

I reach into the refrigerator
and see amongst the lettuce
sits another ripe peach

I close
the refrigerator door
and start

to
c

This one I liked better. Clever wording, and good imagery -

watch the detail, some of it is really good - other bits are superfluous
