uNHaPPY eYeS ReFLeCT DePReSSioN

Contributed by xslashxprettyxskinx on Sunday, 13th June 2004 @ 09:44:36 PM in AEST
Topic: hbadday

I took a look in the mirror today
I saw a face I didn't recognize
Where color once shined in my face
Now just looked drained and disguised.

The sapphire eyes have lost life
Taken the shape and color of depression
Sunken back and broken blood shot
From crying out my aggression.

My mouth caught in quiet surprise
From the ghastly expression in view
Twisted and motionless
Ashamed; too embarrassed to move.

The cold and lonely tears
Formed on the corner of my face
Caught by judgement: no release
Paused and stuck in place.

The person looking back at me
Is who I want to change
So much unhappiness shown in her face
Time for life to rearrange.

Lindsey, the thing about life that amazes me is that every morning we wake up to a new day and a blank slate upon which to create our day. You can make your changes as you see fit and learn from each day what needs to be done next to make you happy and complete. Let the eyes shine and the cheeks glow rosy and the lips part in a smile. Your life can be what you wish it to be. It is all up to you. I wish you luck and happiness.

Rita

Lindsey, this is exceptional. Very descriptive and refreshingly real emotions. Well done.

Lovely write. Your description of your fatigue at the emotions portrayed by your mirror is excellent. I was thoroughly absorbed.

I like the positive and constructive theme to the poem, too.

Nice job. Well done.
