Memory

Contributed by waos on Sunday, 13th June 2004 @ 08:39:16 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

They fall upon you unbidden,
like softly falling snow.
But becomes the too familiar blizzard
and continues to grow.
The darkness of flowing pain,
the agony of bitter stones in the pit of you;
the caress of warm softness
becoming irrevocably true.
And gradually its consuming power
buries you, covers you in horror.
And its atrocities slowly eat away
your insides, draws you on in torture.
Stubbornly refusing evidence of emotion,
the denial of outward shown fear.
Haunting words repeating forever,
streaking, smearing your vision unclear.
The comforting sharp silver,
the cold steel upon the fevered brow.
The darkness commanding cold shivers,
you're left with only memory now.
Memories of pain abated.
Memories of pain eased.
The truth no memory can cease.
Memories of pain. Memories of hate.
Painful memories.

This is worthy of a song that I know and love
"The way we were"

"Memories can be bueatiful and yet
what's too painful to remember
can be so easy to forget
for the laughter
that we remember
we choose to remember
the way we -were-"

Sung by Gladys knight and other artists

A great dark read worthy of recognition. I loved this piece for it's rythm and intertwined grace, a picture painted of pain that used every color at your disposal. Well done, well done.

This is a very strong piece! It is rich, but not overdone. Great imagery, excellent word choice, and quite powerful. Very well done!

A very compelling work. It held my interest all the way through. Not so easily done.
