Out of Africa

Grief

No cemetery, no gravestones
No maids mourning, no maids alive
Just an empty wasteland
A great wall torn down.
Broken brick upon broken brick.
Bleached bones cleansed in the sun.
Vaste wasteland.
There’s a tale to tell here
Something ominous in the air
That the Namib wind
Will not set free.
A secret on parched lips.
Buried in the desert sand.
A massacre, a genocide?
No attempt to hide
The evidence,
To rescue the wounded,
To take prisoners alive -
Just the account of a diamond mine
Discovered 11 miles due South.

Good. I like the broken brick imagery. Hard to determine a political or emotional tone, maybe you were going for both. Overall, good poem. |

Black hearted destruction. More sadness in the world, loose and barbaric. Loss of the forever kind, never to be regained. Magnificent writing.

I am unaware of the event - I haven't heard of it before, or if I have - i've forgotten. Although I didn't get the detail and understand the cause, I'll believe that it was justified in its ambiguity.
Very good write. |

Fantastic Poem.....you made me feel all the horror and injustice......even the mystery. There is so much of this going on, doesn't surprize me, but it is so sad!
You did a very good job on this one.....I'll remember it for a very long time!
Poetic hugs
