optimistic?

I'm just sitting here/with full makeup on/and my hair is done/I'm waiting for the phone to ring/but I know it won't/for the simple fact that I've not been optimistic 'bout this situation I've been thrown into this time

optimism is something I had to teach myself again/remain optimistic about you and what we got ourselves into this time

when the phone finally rings/ I debate with my two sides/should I pick it up and sound really bored/or let him hear my answering machine and make him believe that I was half busy?/I'll take the machine this time since last time I picked up I felt like an ass

you don't know/but I waited all week to hear your voice/and then you cut me off after 5 of you time to get back to "your boy" and not to sound jealous yet since we aren't together that way but its a fact that you talk to him almost everyday and it's not fair since I gave you more of myself than he ever will!

you're the cause that's making me go back to my lonely pessimistic self I'm half empty now fill me up before I think otherwise
