It Didn't Really Hurt

Contributed by im_sory_i_cant_be_perfect on Saturday, 12th June 2004 @ 07:05:12 PM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Dawn is breaking
but I can’t see the sun
my heart is aching
from what you’ve done
you let us go so quickly
and didn’t even miss me
I thought that it wouldn’t change much
but you’ve messed up
I’m not to blame
but I’m the one who hurts
the victim of your game
and your hurtful words
it’s mid-day now
but my world is still black
I can’t bear to think how
I could let you come back
but the past is behind us
and it won’t ever change
and the future will blind us
if we rearrange
so just go ahead and walk away
and remember
it wouldn’t hurt me anyway

Very nicely done! This rings of honesty.... It is, I think, a private, internal thought dropped out onto the page - the way the best poems come to life. Thanks for sharing - and Welcome to YPDC!
