Pauper Poet loses to Mr. Moneybag

Contributed by bhav on Saturday, 12th June 2004 @ 11:41:35 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

There you are in someone else’s arms,
your cheeks are as red as the freshly picked up strawberries from the farm.
It is money what you looked out for in your hubby,
poor me penny less poet how could I be your hubby.

You loved my poems,
you became my inspiration,
the reason to live,
the reason to die for,
but all this was just a dream,
you got married to Mr. Moneybag and there I lost my inspiration.

I don’t blame you for your decision,
life can be lived well with money and
that to lots of it can easily influence any decision.
Poets it seems are born paupers,
who wants to live one’s life with a pauper?

A poet can give you love,
but can one survive on love?
Words can’t fill up ones stomach,
you need money to buy food and fill up ones stomach.

You are right, very right sweetness in marrying Mr. Moneybag,
its only words and words that all I have in my bag.
But remember dear,
relations may change,
seasons may change,
but my love for you will never change.

Pauper me with only words to share,
i know you care.
Remember you are there in every breath I take,
i love you and will always do,
my love for you is pure it is not like money which can be fake.

Very nice... When I married me hubby, neither of us had any money. We have enough to be comfortable *now* though. Hope you can find inspiration in other things - nature, sunsets, politics... whatever it takes, keep writing!
