The billows roll across the grey sky
on the beach of eternity.
The people stand in silence together,
the cursed and the captives free.
The waters of the ocean roll in;
the flood of a father's tears.
The tome of remembrance is opened
a copendium of all man's years.
A throne sits by the ocean
regal and grand in appearance.
A man sits in stature of greatness
shining with great magnificence.
The name of a person is called out
to stand before this man.
Each one comes forth and is talked to
each person given his chance.
The waves sweep in from the ocean;
they carry the wicked away
but not before more tears are added
God grieved each person not saved.
Tear drops welled up in my soul
as I saw the actions he took.
With anguished heart I turned away
I could no longer look.
He showed such love and graciousness
even for those who perished
How could I not do the same;
to those I love and cherish?

A very heartfelt poem, Archie, and obviously on a topic that you care strongly about...
Thanks for sharing it with us... Maybe we can gain a little bit of insight on this...

I like the metaphorical (or not?) image of what Christians expect to happen on a more spiritual level. I personally hope that the Bible is wrong and that no one will be "swept away" - that no one is truly wicked and God's just trying to scare us into being good Christian believers. That in the end we'll ALL be forgiven and welcomed and loved, even those who died faithless. Fingers crossed. |

There is much truth in your poem Archie.....It was the same as in Noah's Day and the flood. Yes he will definitely divide his people from the others.......Why should the wicked get to go........they will ruin it for everyone else we know?
Wonderful way of putting it Archie.
Great Poem

Chills! You gave me major chills with this one. The only suggestion I have is to use "audience" instead of "talked to." This is magnificent.

Wow what an interesting way to interpret judgement day. This is so much better then the line of people at the pearly gates..its so over used. A beach overcast with clouds is a more solem serious picture and more involved with nature. An ocean of tears for all those not saved...thats beautiful man. Thanks for your comment on Ways of Water. |
