What is there to say
When someone tells you about
Something terrible that’s happened
Other than-
I’m sorry
I really mean it when I say it
It sounds so lame
So broken, so weak
But what else can I do
To alleviate their pain
I feel so powerless
Their sorrow drowned by their numbness
All I can do is offer my feeble support
My condolences
With the only two words
That I know I can offer
I’m sorry.
