Somwhere Over The Rainbow

Contributed by pixie on Thursday, 10th June 2004 @ 02:39:16 PM in AEST
Topic: fantasy

There are magical and beautiful things,
Fairy queens and horses with wings,
Goblins, witches ,imps and sprites,
Mystical creatures that only come out at night.

Wizards and Warlocks casting spells,
Pixies and dragonflies that dance in the dells,
Dragons and hobbits that look so unreal,
All you have to do to get here is just click your heels.

Here in this land you’ll feel right at ease,
While skipping through grass and talking with the trees,
You never grow older and never feel sad,
This will be the greatest adventure that you’ve ever had.

All the animals can speak here in Oz,
The birds and the monkeys and even the frogs,
This place is so much better than a dream,
As you sit and wade with mermaids inside the warm, flowing stream

Butterflies flutter before your eyes,
And continue their special dance into the skies,
From this world you never want to go,
Forever you want to stay somewhere over the rainbow.

Sounds like someplace I would love. Think I will print this out for my grandchildren. They will love it too. Rainbows are one of my favorite things.

Pixie;

Hi. Your poem reminds me of the Wizard of Oz. I first saw this movie when I was 6 or 7 years of age, back in the late'40's. It was my first color movie that I had seen, and it was wonderful. Thanks for a great poem and great memories.
