Patient Heart

Contributed by Silent-No-More on Tuesday, 8th June 2004 @ 10:26:05 AM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

They say our minds are underused
I’d argue that our hearts are too
Desperate, wanting, feeling abused
We pack our hearts with love untrue

Cluttered up with unnecessary stuff
We lose the ability to truly trust
That if we are brave and strong enough
True love will then come to us

So scared we seem to be alone
We try to force fire from a tiny spark
Then when the feeling has flown
Our hearts, unhappy, again fall dark

Hopelessly looking to fill some void
We lose sight of what is truly real
Our hearts trapped, wrongly employed
Will never know the absolute ideal

Shadows of love is all we’ll know
When we occupy our hearts this way
Perfection stifled, unable to grow
True love will, sadly, ever stay away

We need to find patience and endure
Our hearts filled with hope if all alone
We must wait for something pure
Chance that a real love is yet unknown

You must be willing to gamble a bit
To risk never finding what we all seek
But wait, I beg you, for a perfect fit
Stand up tall and never feel weak

Ignore the tiny pitter patters
Stay quiet, unmoved, until it is more
For true love is an obvious matter
When it comes, you will then be sure

Just leave your heart open for now
And let yourself be truly satisfied
With knowing that some day, somehow
What you want shall not be denied

Trust me when I tell you this
That to dare is worth everything
And worst of all would be to miss
What a patient, open heart can bring

What??! Patience in love? What sort of madness is this?

Very excellent message, and well written. Bravo!
