Goodbye Meant Fear
January 29, 2004
I know it can't be true
Why must I lose you?
I can't believe your dead,
And all those times I said,
Goodbye.
And now I mourn for this,
All those times I missed,
Every kiss goodnight,
Those nights I was not there,
Oh, it is such a scare,
I wish I had been there.
And every pat on my hand,
Melts my heart to sand,
Knowing you won't be there any more.
Why must I lose you?
Oh, please don’t let it be true,
To think of all those times,
Uncountable to me,
I said,
Goodbye.
It was not until right now,
Right here,
That goodbye,
Meant fear.
On my way to school,
Or going to a see a friend,
I always said goodbye,
But it was never an end.
And every time I ended a phone call with you,
My exit greeting was the same,
It was,
Goodbye.
And now I cry,
For I will never say hi,
And hear your reply.
So may you reach those pearly gates,
And float your way right through.
But know I’m down here every day,
Thinking of you.
Promise me as I will too,
To never say,
Goodbye.
It was not until right now, right here,
Looking at you, that goodbye meant fear.
