Broken Lives

Contributed by Katie2008 on Monday, 7th June 2004 @ 05:11:19 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

She smiles at school, laughs really loud, acts like she has herself figured out
But when she gets home, the setting changes
She picks up her knife and lays there, bleeding
He comes from a wealthy family, caught up in money and materialistic things
But what you don't know is that this poor boy is unstable at heart, to him, cutting himself is an art
He acts like he's happy, even when he's sad
He doesn't want you to know about the pain he tries to mask
He comes home each night, wanting to die
Because Dear Dad uses drugs and fights
She tries to find love in her life
She may act like your friend
But she trusts no one
Her mother is gone
Her father is never home
And she always feels so alone
So if you see these people, be their friend
It may be hard, but it will work in the end
For, these are real people too, and they just want to be treated the same as you
No one's life is perfect, but they just have it a little harder
So if you see them, take the time to show them that they belong
And maybe they'll see the light
All because YOU made things right

So true in so many ways. Keep them coming.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
