Drink And Depression

Contributed by pixie on Monday, 7th June 2004 @ 11:51:48 AM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

These two factors really don’t mix,
But I need the drink it’s my only fix,
I have been trapped in this vicious circle for years,
I drink to lift my mood, but it brings on my depression and my fears.

The day after the night before,
I am laying in a crumpled heap on the floor,
Contemplating taking my young life,
Which weapon do I use, tablets, glass or knife?

I feel like there’s much more for me in death,
I can’t keep picking myself up there’s nothing left,
My once warm heart is so numb,
To thoughts of suicide and death I succumb.

I have never felt so alone,
How I long to hear a voice on the end of the telephone,
My head is filled with thoughts of eternal rest,
All that I have is being put to the test.

I often picture my funeral procession,
Sometimes my thoughts of dying are an obsession,
Who would come to pay their last respects?
Say their final goodbyes to this suicide project.

Here I sit with thoughts of eternal sleep,
No longer would I witness my bleeding heart weep,
If I were to end all my pain right now,
It would be my depression that would be taking a bow.

Wow that was a very sad and scary poem. Unfortunatley many of us understand exactly how you are feeling. You just need to remember you are not alone. Keep writing, it helps and your very good at it. Great job on the poem, I could almost feel your pain.

This is a very strong and deep poem, Pixie. But hang in there. I understand how you feel. A lot of people do. I'm here for you..if you need it. Things will eventually turn for the better again...you'll see.

yes depression and drinking DON'T mix. I hope that writing is a better remedy than drinking has been for you. I don't really know what to say except that I liked this poem and I hope you find a way to get around the bottle. Keep on fighting.

Beautifully written, When thruth is so sad.
The pain and emotion, The act of finding a wall. Something to block the low, No matter what we know it blocks the pain for a moment. Acting altered, happy for a second depressed for a life time.
You did a great job telling emotions here, even if not your sure the hell mine.
God Bless You. Peace & Unity.
