CHiLDHooD iNNoCeNCe (VoL. 5)

Contributed by strange_lindsey on Monday, 7th June 2004 @ 09:52:43 AM in AEST
Topic: StoryPoetry

Violently her eyes flickered open
The only noise; a quiet 'beep beep'
Moms face drawn, restless and sunken in
Across the stale white room began to weep.

The smell a pungant odor
Of cleaning supplies and bleach
A urine colored undertone bed sheet
A tube caught her arm from the reach.

"Hi Mom, whats wrong"
She asked, with frail vocal chords
"Im just happy you're finally awake"
She said, walking closer on the squeaking of boards.

Never before and never again
She said to herself in her head
Adjusting herself in the seated position
In the painfully metallic hospital bed.

Then she noticed a tiny window
Looking out over the fragile parking lot
She watched as the rain drenched streets shimmer
On concrete that almost looked hot.

There she tried to imagine the snow
And her favorite bedroom window and sill
But this minute was too happy
For once she was happy to be alive still...
