WRITER'S ~ BLOCK

Contributed by AnGeL_M on Sunday, 6th June 2004 @ 09:00:53 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

I am giving up on writing for I have lost the will
Or maybe I’m doing it because I’ve lost the skill.

I remember when I first started I did it for the thrill
But now when I write it feels like I’m running up hill.

I used to write when I was depressed so my blood wouldn’t spill
But now writing is like cutting a diamond with a plastic drill
Its like trying to stab this knife through a bullet proof windowsill.

It feels like all my thoughts have stopped and become locked
Oh how I hate it when my poetic flow becomes blocked.

yes ive felt this many many times. writing tends to be a cycle. you have inspiration and run with it till all of it is gone and your left with nothing to go on. inspiration is just around the corner.

take a break, take a rest
but, know you are one of the best

in time again you will know
when it is time again for your work to show

keep the faith

i know this exact feeling. sometimes it is so hard when you want to write but nothing comes out or it comes out choppy and undone. you just have to push through and know that in the end it will come out and be a masterpiece of your emotions. great write.

I've written poetry for over 60 years now. I can remember the times I simply didn't have anything to say.......so I gave it rest......for another day. It helps also to actually search. I mean look for a different subject, dig hard, as if you were looking for a pearl in your backyard. Once a poet, always a poet....sometimes all you need is just a little adjustment!
Good Luck........I hope you don't stop.....I love your poetry..........alot
love

Well it seems fine to me, your poetic vein
Words are still flowing ,like a river after rain
So take a rest from the thinking, but please don't go away.
I was reading this in my lunchtime and it really made my day !!

i miss your posts; but one day soon
you'll write another; to make us swoon
read a while, light a candle; when the minds away
your talent will be back; we all have those days!

hugs n' love, nessa

YOU HAVE THE GIFT!!!!
you have the gift to rhyme
you have the gift to show any emotion
you have the gift so many want
you have the gift of poetry
embrace it and love it

~Bethani~

P.S. the writer's block will pass!
