Reflection

Contributed by fionndruinne on Sunday, 6th June 2004 @ 05:44:38 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

There are days in my life
When I walk in sadness,
And the tide of time brings strife
And vast loneliness;
These needless griefs
Suffered in darkness.

But I yet remember one
In whom my heart found gladness.
Whose eyes could raise the sun
In my own night’s blackness.
Whose sight was enough
To turn me from my loneliness.

A girl was that light for a while,
Who came into my unhappiness
Gently, with a bright smile,
But faded again with the same gentleness
In the current of time and fate
Blowing with the north-wind’s coldness.

Now she is far from my sight,
No doubt walking in the same darkness.
I wonder who will be a light
In her own life’s loneliness.
I wonder if I may be such a one
Even though she walks in fate’s aloofness.

Mighty One, guard that one’s way.
Keep her days from life’s brokenness.
Let not her peace fade away,
But fill her walk with blessedness;
For only the gift of another’s caring
Can give our lives true happiness.

It is amazing how God works people into our lives when we need them and when they need us. A splendid topic adroitly handled.

Awe...Andrew, that made me kind of sad. I wish that you wouldn't have been so sad before, and I hope that you aren't sad now. I care about you, so brighten up, chap! Very graceful poem. So expressive, honest, and selfless. You are an amazing guy to remember her and pray for her. I admire you old people. Beautiful piece to "reflect" your beautiful soul.

Dear Andrew, I have searched for you, and finally realized after seeing you on the forum you are not under Andrew.
Matter not, whichever name you might use, this poem is eloquent in it's words, and oh my how I loved the last lines
"For only the gift of another's caring can give our lives true happiness" How very true you are. When you know that someone else cares, our woes are cut in half......and our happiness is strengthened. I enjoyed this lovely poem so much.
And finally Andrew, now you I can find *smiles*

How wonderfully warm and obviously genuine! I'd suggest that the light has not gone from either of you... it has transformed itself into something that remains worth holding on to.

Lovely!

This poem is very much like a prayer. If this is a prayer I am very inspired by it. If this is a story I am encouraged by it nonetheless. You have a great writing style that would be good for telling stories in.
